Good Morning
I was raised in a home that had a revolving front door. I mean it. Guests would no sooner be out than a new one arrived. We had several family members and friends living with us at various times as well. Most of my childhood memories involve people other than my immediate family.
Since I have 5 older sisters, even without extra people, breakfast was no small affair. I remember learning to cook scrambled eggs when I could barely reach the stove. My sisters would rave at how good my eggs tasted. They said I made them better than anyone else. I was bursting with pride when they asked me, their little sister, to make breakfast. It wasn’t long before I graduated to bacon. Low, slow and turn it often was my secret. Perfectly crisp, never burnt. I sacrificed a couple pounds of bacon learning this, but the praise was worth it. Several years later, my sister Stacy ‘fessed up that she only said those things because she hated cooking breakfast. Too late, my love for a big breakfast was well established by then.
The pace in my own home now rivals my parents. My husband and I have come to love all our invited and also our “unannounced” guests. At these times, I find breakfast is a great place to start the day off right. Plans for the day can be discussed, teenagers might even get up, and the smell of bacon and hot chocolate can’t be beat. So even a simply prepared meal can be enjoyable if everyone is there to share it.
The best thing about the next recipes are that they are easy to prepare and everyone can eat at the same time. Unlike pancakes and French toast that come off one or two at a time, the cook gets to eat with everyone else.
