Turtle Cake

 

For the Chocolate-Caramel Lover:

I love chocolate. I love caramel. This is the best of both worlds. This cake literally melts in your mouth. It’s the perfect special occasion dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 package German chocolate cake mix
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup oil
  • 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 lb. package caramels
  • 1 can coconut pecan frosting

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Combine chocolate cake mix, butter, water, oil, and ½ can of milk in mixing bowl.  Mix well.  Pour half of batter into greased and floured baking dish.  Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.  

Step 2

Melt and mix together caramels and remaining milk on low heat until smooth.  Spread over baked cake layer.  Sprinkle with chopped pecans.  Cover with remaining cake batter.  Return to oven and bake 25 to 35 minutes longer.  Cool.  

Step 3

Spread with frosting.  Serve in small portions, cake is very sweet.
