Blessings from the Kitchen
Recipes Ordered for Life
Recipes in Life Context
I had a lot of fun writing this cookbook. Okay, I know it is a website, but I am old fashioned and still think of this as my own personal cookbook. In fact, one of the reasons I have it online is that I can access any of my favorites while I am in the store and need the ingredient list.
It is more about why I cook and the events in all our lives that spark the interest to actually spend time in the kitchen. This cookbook tells a little about how I view food in the context of my own life. The other reason I began this project was because I wanted to share some really great recipes, and ended up sharing more of why these recipes are so fun for me. I am sure each one of us has a memory connected to the countless dishes we prepare.
You will see that the recipes are not ordered by type,
but rather what I like to do with them. You may find desserts on several pages as well as a plethora of other eclectic choices for the occasion or context.
Through writing these snapshots of my life, I found two themes clearly emerged. First, I love to throw parties and celebrations of all types. Second, how religion and food are richly connected for me. In most essays, there is mention of the people with whom I have shared my life, and how they have shared theirs with me. There is even one whole section dedicated to the way I cook on Sunday.
Indeed, some of my greatest blessings have been surrounded by food.
